The best way to explain the bus ride to Nebbi Town is a 7+ hour Shivering Timbers ride! We made the trip in 7 hours yesterday and just returned today. That was a busy two days!
We met lots of family members of Betty and Albert Udongo. We were honored to have met them and been given a glimpse of the life they lead in Nebbi Town.
Next time we return, Phillip says we are to stay at their house and eat the BIGGEST goat! He will roast it for us! WOW! We found it hard to say no so we plan on returning with the kids someday to stay and enjoy family time in Nebbi!
Lots of tears when I met George's daughter at the school! She is so sweet and strong! I love hearing her voice. She and I laughed and cried exchanging stories of her dad. He is in our hearts and we both look forward to seeing/meeting him in heaven!
Also we were honored to have worshiped in a small church on the back roads of Nebbi. We listened to Albert preach on eternal life! God is all knowing, all loving, and all present! Great words to have on our hearts as we face this week.
We met Grace's friends from northern Uganda. The two friends slept with her in her room last night and laughed way into the early hours this morning. They met us at breakfast with heavy eyes. All these girls lost their parents to the LRA. Between the three of them from 2001 to 2004 all 6 parents were killed. They felt comfortable talking about their family and also surviving siblings so we listened. What survivors they are. I can not even say how beautiful they are too. Gorgeous women!
God is working on my vanity too! I blew up my flat iron on day one and also forgot my brush at home. SO...that means that in 7 days I have not "done" my hair-at all!!! :) Pretty freeing to not have that to work on in the morning! Why again is it so important??? Sorry Lisa! I will still be getting out the "natural highlights" so you will not lose my business! :)
We have a busy week coming up! There is another visa appointment to schedule and also making plans to depart. (with Grace!)
She was doing some homework and we discovered that she and her brother Robert have a plot of land in Pader district that was left to them when their parents were killed. She said that her parents owned it and they are now the owners of the plot. THAT means that there is some physical interest that might avoid another denied visa. That is awesome!!! I must say that I thought we asked her that question but going back we see that we missed it. Thank you to some huge prayer warriors back home that are relentlessly pursuing this through God! I will sleep well tonight!
Tomorrow we are visiting Solomon's academy to see the good work he is doing there. We hear good things from Christ Followers for Change and our friends Heather and Jason. He will be here to pick us up at 8am so I think I owe him a bath! :)
Thank you for the prayers and please continue! We are not giving up on this path we have been placed on.
Chasing Him~
